===== Installation =====================================
The installation procedure for FundRaiser Basic is quite simple.
FOR ALL (Hard Disk Requirements):
---------------------------------
o You will need AT LEAST 800k and preferably about 2 Mb of available
disk space on the hard drive or diskette on which you plan to install
FundRaiser Basic. The program and empty databases take 800k, the
help files and manual about 300k. In addition, you must have
sufficient room to record data on your donors and their donations.
Depending on how extensive your notes are, and how many donations,
you should figure about 1k for every 1 to 2 donors.
o We do not recommend installation onto a diskette because the disk's
limited disk capacity will limit the number of donors that can be
recorded, and will result in VERY slow operation.
o Once installed, start the program by typing FRB.
QUICK - For those familiar with compressed files:
-------------------------------------------------
Just copy the files named FRB13A.EXE and FRB13B.EXE to their own
directory (like C:\FRB) on your hard disk. These files are
"self-extracting" archives that contains all necessary files. To
extract the program file, just type FRB13A at the DOS prompt. To
extract the help files and manual, type FRB13B at the DOS prompt. You
may then delete FRB13A.EXE and FRB13B.EXE.
FOR NOVICES:
------------
Follow the simple installation procedures below. The exact steps you
need to take will depend on how you received FundRaiser Basic.
INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
1) Place the FundRaiser Basic distribution diskette (disk #1 if you
received multiple disks) in the appropriate diskette drive.
2) Log on to that drive by entering: A: (or B: if appropriate)
3) Type: INSTALL X where X is the drive that you want FundRaiser
Basic installed on. For example, to install on drive C, type
INSTALL C
4) Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
are actually made to the contents of your hard drive. The program
will install itself into a directory named \FRB, which must NOT
yet exist, and will copy other FundRaiser Basic files to that
directory.
INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
If you downloaded FundRaiser Basic from a BBS (or received it in the
form of archive files from some other source), you will need to perform
the following steps.
1) Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
directory on your hard drive. The procedure for doing this
varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
that you have already done so. If not, you should be able to
obtain directions for this from the same source from which you
received the package.
2) Choose one of the following two installation methods:
a) Copy these files to a diskette and follow the instructions
above for installing from a floppy (preferred method for
beginners); or,
b) Follow these steps:
1) Create a directory for FundRaiser Basic:
MD \FRB
2) Copy the FundRaiser Basic files to that directory:
COPY *.* \FRB
3) Change to that directory:
CD \FRB
4) Extract the program:
FRB13A
5) Extract the help files and manual:
FRB13B
To start the program:
CD \FRB
FRB
YOU'RE READY TO GO
Once you've completed the installation, you should consult the file
"MANUAL.TXT", especially the Introduction, which will give you other
information you need to properly evaluate FundRaiser Basic. Enjoy!
